The Wonder Women Photo Project.

PROJECT JERICHO is a nationally recognized collaboration between Clark State Performing Arts Center in Springfield, Ohio, and Job & Family Services of Clark County.  Their mission: changing lives through arts experiences for youth and families.  My good friend Vicki has worked with P.J. in the past and asked if I wanted to help out with a workshop this spring designed to teach six young women the basics of photography.  In conjunction with the Springfield Foundation's Women's Partnership Fund, these talented students created portraits of some of the outstanding women of the Springfield community, both in formal settings and in  a documentary approach.

It has been so inspiring to be a part of this project.  Teaching kids even a little bit about how to use a camera has brought me closer to my own work, but best of all has been watching the girls get excited about photography. Caitlin said to us, "I was at Best Buy with my Dad, looking at the cameras, and I thought, 'Gee, I know how to use those now.  I know what all those buttons do!'"  She said she wants to photograph for her school yearbook next year.

Art does change lives.

Please join us for the culmination of this amazing project: a multimedia exhibit opening at the SPRINGFIELD MUSEUM OF ART.  Friday, May 16th from 4:30-6pm. Driving from Columbus?  Pop into SEASONS for drinks & dinner afterwards!
